About Fawley Independent Day Nursery

Mission

To deliver exceptional standards of childcare and education.

Values

The mission will be achieved by –

  • Providing a safe and secure environment for children to learn
  • maintaining quality through ongoing continuous professional development
  • maintaining IIP (investors in people) Kitemark
  • establishing and maintaining partnerships with parents
  • working with external agencies to maximise learning opportunities

Nursery organisation

For operational purposes, although the children play together outside and have lunch together in the dinning room, there are three units as follows -

Jungle Babes - This is the unit for children under the age of 2.

Never Land - This unit is for 2 year olds - 3 year olds

Turtles - This unit is for 3 year olds - 5 year olds.

Key Person

Every child is allocated a key person when they join the nursery to ensure they develop a special bond to cater for all their needs whilst in the setting.  The key person works very closely with the parents to provide continuity of care and build on interests displayed at home to encourage learning.  Occasionally a child may gravitate towards a different member of staff, in which case the unit leader will follow the child's lead and change the key person!

I am very proud of the qualification levels of the team.  The nursery has fully embraced the government aim of professionalising the sector by appointing some graduate professionals including 3 Early Years Professionals.

The service provided is as good as the staff employed. Therefore all staff are carefully vetted during the interview process to ensure they are dedicated to a career with children.

New staff complete a health questionnaire and are CRB checked to ensure there are no criminal records which may compromise the quality of care.  CRB's are repeated for all staff every three years.

Following appointment, staff go through a thorough induction program to ensure they are familiar with all the tried and tested policies and procedures to deliver exceptional standards of care.

Staffing ratio's are in line with the statutory requirements as published by Ofsted and typically 1:3 (for under 2's), 1:4 (2 years - 3 years old), 1:8 (3 years to 5 years) and 1:13 for the qualified teacher.

Opening Times

The nursery is open from 8am – 6pm, 52 weeks a year. We only shut for public holidays.

We do offer a limited number of teacher places whereby the children are off during holidays. These are offered on a 1st come 1st serve basis and there are no guarantees regarding availability.
